Lake of Wonders
Green area that offers two lakes, one of which is a “no kill” area where fishing enthusiasts can devote themselves to the capture of trout, pike, carp, mullet, catfish and other species, using only artificial baits. Here you will also find a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the large lake, a play area for children and a picnic area equipped to spend a day outdoors. In addition, fishing courses are organized for those who want to learn or perfect this activity.
Pigneto
in Campo Ascolano, is a dune and Mediterranean scrub area that extends along the coast between Torvaianica and the Tognazzi Village. This place is one of the last coastal areas still intact, testifying to what the coastline was like before the arrival of building speculation starting in the 50s.
Marine Protected Area of the Secche di Tor Paterno
Located in front of the Presidential Estate of Castel Porziano, it is a submerged paradise that covers over 1200 hectares of seabed. This real submerged island is a natural refuge for numerous species of fish, such as moray eels, sea bass, monkfish, groupers and eagle rays. The area is covered by Posidonia oceanica, red gorgonian and other rare plant organisms such as alcyonarians and black coral. The area is particularly popular with divers, who can explore its crystal clear waters and discover a unique biodiversity. Established in 2001 and managed by the “Roma Natura” body, the Marine Protected Area of the Secche di Tor Paterno represents a fundamental natural resource for the conservation of the marine ecosystem.
Sughereta di Pomezia Nature Reserve
A forest of cork oaks and evergreen oaks, which thanks to its unique microclimate is home to a variety of fauna and flora. Here you can meet moles, foxes, hedgehogs, and different species of birds such as wood pigeons, jays and magpies. Among the vegetation, there are also plants such as wild pear, hawthorn and myrtle. Since 2016, the Bosco del Sughereto has been proclaimed a Regional Nature Reserve, guaranteeing the protection and conservation of its ecosystem.
