This multimedia museum preserves the finds from the archaeological area of Lavinium. Among the most important objects are the statue of Minerva Tritonia, the so-called “talking statues”, a reconstruction of Aeneas’ ship and the “optical theater”. <\/p>\n\n
Here are the remains of the Latin city which, according to myth, was founded by Aeneas. Among the most significant monuments are the Sanctuary of the Thirteen Macaws, consisting of thirteen aligned altars, dating back to the period between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, and the Heroon of Aeneas, a princely tomb from the seventh century BC. <\/p>\n\n
This church dating back to the fifth century AD has an octagonal plan and is located near the Archaeological Area of Lavinium. It is also known as “La Madonnella”. <\/p>\n\n
Formerly navigable, at its mouth, according to myth, the landing of Aeneas took place. It is currently known as “Fosso di Pratica di Mare”. <\/p>\n\n
Inaugurated in 2019 on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the city, it tells the modern history of Pomezia through texts, images and films. It includes a library, an archive and is divided into five thematic sections: Pomezia in Cantiere, Government and Territory City, Pomezia in Review, Founding Peoples and Industrialization and Development. <\/p>\n\n
Formerly known as Empire Square, it is an emblematic example of rationalist architecture. The name of this place originates from the Vajanico Tower, which was demolished in the period following the Second World War. Originally, Torvaianica was a small village inhabited by fishermen and sailors. Her notoriety grew nationally with the famous Wilma Montesi case. In the golden years of Italian cinema, it became a popular destination for actors working at the “Dinocitt\u00e0” studios in Castel Romano. <\/p>\n\n
At 34 meters, it is the tallest tower in the Roman countryside. Built on the domusculta S. Edisti, it is surrounded by an industrial area and is in a precarious condition, requiring urgent restoration work. <\/p>\n\n
Ancient medieval castle surrounded by walls and equipped with a 20-meter high tower, mentioned for the first time in the twelfth century. Its name recalls the oak woods that once covered the area. Restored in different eras, the castle was transformed into a rural village during the twentieth century. <\/p>\n\n
Built in 1927 as an irrigation tank, this neo-medieval tower was designed by Count Giovanni Maria Ticca. On the top is visible the family coat of arms, a distinctive element that enhances its architectural elegance. <\/p>\n\n
Elegant residence on the coast, used for hunting and leisure by the Borghese family. Once a meeting place for the Roman nobility, today it is visible from the outside from the beach. <\/p>\n\n
Here lie the remains of 27,743 German soldiers who fell during the fighting following the Anzio landing in 1944. Among them, 3,770 remain unidentified. The cemetery was donated by the Italian State to Germany in 1955. <\/p>\n\n
The facades of the library are enriched by the mural entitled “The antidoor”, created by the urban artist Agostino Iacurci. The work draws inspiration from an episode from the sixth book of the Aeneid, which tells the story of the meeting between Aeneas and the Cumaean Sibyl. <\/p>\n\n
